Students need to have choices with their work and here is your big chance. You must choose at least 1 project from this option menu to complete during your state project. It must be added to your state portfolio on your Google Site
Option A - Create a model
Student will create a model of a famous landmark or product from their state. You can create your model using clay, paper mache, LEGOs, Minecraft, or other pre-approved materials. You will need to write two to three paragraphs to explain what your model is about and why it is important to your state. Anything created in Minecraft must be something I could not recreate in an hour or less and must be shared via screencasting/video. When screencasting your Minecraft creation, please make sure to describe everything we are looking at as we take a tour of your creation.
Option B - Mythmaker
There are a ton of myths/tall tales in the US. Paul Bunyan creating the Grand Canyon or Pecos Bill riding tornadoes are just two examples. Create a myth about something in your state. Your story must be at least 3 pages long (of writing) and should include illustrations. Looking for inspiration, visit American Folklore.
Option C - Create a float
Using a shoebox you will create a float for a parade. The display should showcase the special qualities of your state and include at least 10 different things representing this. You will need to either attach working wheels to the bottom of your float or cut holes that will accommodate the head of a dash robot (to act as your wheels). Final products will be driven around the room in a parade. Students will act as Thanksgiving Day Parade announcers and provide the class with at least a minute presentation about their float.
Option D - Automata
A project that we did in 2017-18 as part of the state report. It has become a student choice option. You would need to make a working automata representing something important from your state. You will need to write 2-3 paragraphs describing what the main item of your automata is and why it is important to your state. You can print your writing and attach it to the front of your autoamata. Instructions to make an automata are the automata page or you can use your internet skills to find instructions that work for you (Youtube, google search, etc.).
Option E - Build a game
Create a game of some sort that incorporates important facts, dates, historical figures and other information about your state. Your game must come with step by step instructions. This can be a board game (i.e. Monopoly, Life, etc), card game (i.e. Exploding Kittens, Uno, etc) or a video game that you have created.
Option F - Bring me your idea!
If you have another idea for a creative project that you would like to do about your state bring it to me ASAP for approval.
